My Uncle was KIA in the battle of the Hurtgen Forrest. This battle was largely under reported because we took so many casualties (some 33,000). It was the longest battle in US military history. It preceded the Battle Of The Bulge.

Hurtgen Forrest was a mess. The Americans took heavy losses and so little is known about it.
