The following verse is the scripture that Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty paraphrased while explaining his views on homosexuality to a reporter from GQ magazine, Drew Magary, during a relaxing duck hunting trip on Phils pristine wilderness property in Monroe, LA.
I Corinthians 6: 9-10 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolators, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals 10) nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

Paul was a hater. He hated sin.
IF there were any criticism to offer Mr. Robertson, it is that he did not quote the Bible directly.
For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
Now, that's language you don't use in polite company!
Hey, the Duck guy should consider himself lucky. He just lost a job from quoting Paul. Paul lost his head.
or in politically correct company evidently. What exactly is the libspeak translation of "freedom of speech"?
The left is tolerant of his views as long as he doesn’t express them.
bump
Because A&E is a private outfit, I don’t think they have to comply with “Freedom of Speech”.
Thanks for that. Of course Paul was writing to believers, though the Corinthian Church had a lot of problems, they were believers none the less. Jesus Christ died for the sins of the world which is everyone, but you still have to believe, and I worry that people miss the part about believing, which is necessary in order to become saved. Thanks for posting
Can they fire somebody for their religious beliefs?
You’re free to hold Christian beliefs in this country as long as you don’t try to own a business or hold down a job.
In most states the employer doesn’t need a reason to dismiss an employee.
You’ve got that right. People don’t like to be told that God turned them over to a reprobate mind even though I think it is true with people in the gay community. You’re sinning against your own body, and it is a sin that has an immediate judgement to it I believe, which you bring on your self
yes, that can be problematic. No question
A&E had a hissy fit, and thought they could reclaim all their street cred with the LGBT crowd by throwing Phil Robertson overboard.
Not their best move for preservation of credibility elsewhere, though. But what the heck, they are just a bunch of chumps over there at A&E, trying to fritter away their patrons’ money. And doing a good job of it, by essentially losing EVERYBODY in the Robertson Clan, and their most popular offering to the cable outlets.
"Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolators, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals 10) nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God"
. This is one time where the liberal comedians (like SNL) could strike gold.
Set up a situation where it looks like Phil Robertson is at a lectern, about to "apologize" then bring out every other kind of sinner and have them whine about being "hated".
Purposefully leave out a gay character.
Have a drunk, a serial adulterer (A Clinton lookalike would be funny), a shifty eyed swindler, a thief, etc.
As soon will we. “You will be hated by all men on account of Me”
