I have clearly offended many, which wasn’t my intention. Once again, it’s an opinion piece. Like it, hate it, whatever. I feel strongly about what I wrote and put it out there. If you didn’t care one way or the other about what I wrote, you wouldn’t have posted a couple of comments.

My only reason for posting is that you are trying so hard to be controversial. You aren’t. I feel I need to let you know that. The Birth of Christ and the Rebirth of Christ should be celebrated by anyone claiming to be a Christian. Believe it or not, but many of us do not fall for the secular invasion of the season through retail specials. You have a right to your opinion. But prefacing your post with the assumption that people will flame you for it was really silly. Sort of like a train wreck, I can’t look away

You know it's pretty sad that we aren't allowed by some to talk about our opinions even when they are voiced in a way that it's clear we aren't intentionally trying to offend anyone. I'm sorry you have been personally attacked just because you don't agree with what Christmas has been made into in our country and the world, for that matter. It was unkind to assume something because you revealed you are a single mother. That was NOT a Christian thing to do.

Far fewer people really celebrate Jesus as the reason for the season anymore and commercialism has taken over. You are correct that remembering Jesus should be an EVERY DAY kind of thing as is helping the needy, being kind and cheerful and cherishing family and friends. Christmas traditions can be heartwarming and wonderful and are what we make of them. If more people remembered that, we'd be doing much better as a nation. I hope you and yours have a very merry Christmas.
