Generally, the trail is not considered that safe. Various threats exist, from animals to nuts.

One suggestion...Please reconsider your pronunciation of
“Appalachian”.
Everyone I know who lives along/ loves the trail pronounces it the other way.

I section hiked the AT back in the 90’s. It was a soul awakening experience.

Many yrs. ago circa 1957 I hiked half of Smokey Mountain NP. Spent 4 days, 3 nights on the trail. Hiked from Waterville to Newfound Gap w/ a side trip up Mt. LeConte.
With a summer camp group.
Our leader? Eustace Conway. Not the one on Mountain Men, Probably his father.
Quite an accomplishment to hike the entire Trail. Twenty miles / day is tough.
