With respect to this comment by you:
“I believe that educating the public about freedom and free markets and the ideas of the founders of our nation, and the cultivation of worthy candidates will lead to a rejection of the bad ideas espoused by the left, and the defeat of “leftists in politics” at the ballot box. That’s what I try to do.”
The “founders” of our nation subscribed to many ideas which contemporary Americans are entirely justified in totally rejecting.
For example: the majority of adults in our nation from 1776 into the 1800’s were not eligible to vote.
In addition, our founders had no problem whatsoever with accepting/defending slavery as a legal and moral institution.
One could even make a plausible argument that during our entire history as an independent nation, it has often been “leftists” who first proposed the reforms which we now take for granted as being essential to a free society.
America needs the contributions of all its sons and daughters to assure the survival and well being of our people. No single ideological perspective (right or left) has a monopoly on truth or decency.
Personally, I reject the notion that “leftists” or “rightists” should be the focus of our concern. Historically, Americans are pragmatists. We are more concerned about what works and what produces the greatest good for the greatest number of our people rather than focusing upon the pedigree of the ideas or policy proposals we adopt.
If you think you can, have at it.
