Cruz: Dems trying to cover 'political rear-ends'

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) says Democrats’ bills to fix ObamaCare are designed to “cover their political rear-ends.”

In an interview on CNN’s “New Day,” Cruz said no one is defending the law anymore.

“All of the bills proposed by the Democrats, they’re designed to be political Band-Aids. Their effort is to cover their political rear-ends, not to fix the problem,” he said.

Several Democrats facing tough reelection campaigns in 2014 — including Sens. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) and Mark Begich (D-Alaska) — have proposed bills to fix President Obama's signature legislation, focusing on a way to let people keep their healthcare plans. Several House Democrats who are GOP targets next year voted for a Republican bill that would allow people to "Keep Your Health Plan."

When CNN's Chris Cuomo asked the freshman Tea Party senator how he would solve ObamaCare, Cruz didn’t offer an alternative. Cuomo said it’s Cruz’s responsibility as a senator to provide one. “I appreciate your trying to lecture me in the morning. Thank you for that,” Cruz replied.

Coming together to stop ObamaCare, Cruz said, “is the essence of pragmatism.”

Several million have already received cancellation notices from health insurance companies, but that’s only the beginning, he warned.

Americans won’t be able to keep their doctors, small businesses will begin canceling plans in large numbers, and up to 100 million people in employer-based large plans will lose their healthcare, he claimed.

Cuomo asked Cruz if he’s willing to work together with other members of Congress to address the debt and fiscal issues instead of shutting down the government.

“Let's be very clear. From day one I’ve been willing to work with anyone, Republicans or Democrats,” he said. “I don't think we should have shut down the government.”

The shutdown happened, he added, because Obama and the Democrats refused to negotiate on ObamaCare.

Last week, at the Aspen Institute’s Washington Ideas Forum, Cruz said the 16-day government shutdown last month was “worth it.”

Since Obamacare has now convincingly failed to be the planned knockout punch to private medical insurance companies, what do the ‘Four Horses of Communism,’ (Reid, Pelosi, Jarrett and Obama), have as their next planned knockout punch, “Moving Forward” into the Abyss of Infinite National Debt?

As usual, Cruz is dead on.

Poor CNN trying so hard to change the subject from obamacare to shutdown.

There’s no fix for obamacare is his point.

Cruz: Dems trying to cover 'political rear-ends'

Cover the rear end.. they are the rear end (along with a growing number of Republicans); that's where the problem is

ACA offers a cure for the stultified (useless, stupid, insane) bowels of Washington, D.C.

Void the bowels of Washington, D.C. 2014-2016

The Democrat's position is completely untenable because it is based on lies, fraud, and incompetence. Just wait until Jan. 1 when breast cancer patients can no longer see their doctor because of Obamacare. The stories of human tragedy will be widespread and heartbreaking.

The Democrats should have heeded Senator Cruz's prophetic warnings. They are going to pay a very heavy price for not doing so.

Am I going nuts here or are Repubs completely hiding under their desks about this? For example I live in New York and in todays NY Post the headlines are GW Bush likes to paint, Maria Baritoromo is moving to Fox, Ny Daily news, headline about a stabbing, then of course a story about the Kardashian sluts, NY Times - story about Obama getting support for Obamacare (incredibly) - Is this all the usual propaganda by the MSM or is the RINO party truly keeping mum about all this? I find this incredible. They are letting the Treason party entirely take control of the propaganda so do I even have to guess by the time we get to the elections it will all be brushed under the rug? They’ll have some RINO running against Hillary talking about “jobs jobs jobs *yawn* jobs jobs” and once again we’ll get a commie in the WH.

I was telling a liberal about my brother’s issue with cancelled insurance at his church and pointed out that he was unable to get the original policy back as it no longer existed. She told me that “it wasn’t as good as Obamacare”. Do these folks get talking points to cover every absurd angle?

There’s a sense of dread hanging over the country.

When someone like Ted Cruz speaks the truth, it gives people hope that Obamacare can be repealed.

The GOP best take note.

Cincinatus’ Wife:

People had better listen to Senator Cruz on a lot of issues. He knows what will ultimately save our country: allowing free markets to work their magic and respecting the Constitution.

She told me that “it wasn’t as good as Obamacare”. Do these folks get talking points to cover every absurd angle?

That angle was all over the DemocraticUnderground discussion threads back in October, starting almost the first day that ObamaCare started to look like it had problems.

I read a couple of Articles recently that said the GOP was just standing back and letting all the ObamaCare mishaps destroy the Dems and the ACA. It’s the old political strategy of: “Don’t shoot at your enemy when he is in the process of hanging himself.”

They have an answer for everything. I’ve decided it is a completely different culture from mine and it will never translate into anything I can remotely understand.
