They found drug paraphernalia after the arrest and search. Taos is about 300 miles from the border. It looked like the cops did what was right, until the third fired at the minivan. It looks like he fired at the tires though...can’t tell.

Yeah because that minivan was going to outrun the cops.

IMO the original cop failed big time by not getting control of the woman when she was outside the vehicle.

If a cop has taken care to aim at shooting out tires, the resulting headline is a misrepresentation to say, "open fire", which not precisely, but nonetheless, conveys "fire-at-will" engagement.

From what I understand (and I'm not a cop), the "shoot at tires" scenario is one that largely takes place only in TV shows and movies.
