This is why I tell people who live in red states not to be too smug when disparaging blue states: liberalism is an insidious rust, a cancer that metastasizes everywhere, and boundaries on a map aren’t going to keep it out.
It is a one-way ratchet, and ideological (or real) territory lost to it is rarely regained.
And if it is regained, it comes under immediate assault again.
