Yes, Democrats can play that game. Trouble is, there will be companies that don’t comply with the plan.

I am not seeing how these “you get to keep it” bills are going to work. They are designed to “undermine” the ACA, not help it. The ACA will falter for lack of self funding because the mandates will not be enforceable.

They are designed to further fool the low information voters in their states.

They can pass this bill and any other similar bill all they want. The fact is that with the LAW OF THE LAND saying everyone must purchase health insurance ... the Insurance companies don't WANT those low cost policies grandfathered in! That's why they are changing them.

NOW because the law says everyone has to purchase an insurance plan, why offer a cheap plan? The government will subsidize the cost for those that can't afford it (IE OUR tax dollars will pay for the new higher cost plan). Why on earth would you offer a $.99 burger if the LAW says everyone has to buy a $4.00 bronze burger?? Want pickles on your $.99 burger? Well that's a change in the "Plan"... so $4 please. In fact, we don't offer the $.99 burger anymore ... sorry, you'll have to choose from our menu of OTHER, more expensive burgers. And if you decide to go hungry ... well the tax man commeth!

Until they pass a bill saying that insurance companies CAN'T change their policies (a losing idea for sure) and MUST keep all current policies on the books unchanged forever ... this is a moot point.

Business is business and this is all part of the business of nationalizing healthcare!

And don’t get me wrong. I’m NOT blaming the insurance companies completely. They were stupid enough to fall into the trap laid out by Obama and Obamacare. They are just doing what they think is good for their profit margins. Hey, we can get more money out of people that previously wouldn’t sign up for a more expensive plan?? Of course they will drop the cheap plans. But long term they are not seeing the “Single Payer” plan and realizing that at that moment ... Insurance companies are nothing more than bookkeepers for the Government Healthcare System.

http://nypost.com/2013/11/05/the-obamacare-speech-he-never-gave/

From the link - the speech Obama should have given:

Republicans are out there scaring folks, and saying that they’ll lose their insurance. [Boos, jeers.] No, no — hey, just because they don’t care about people doesn’t mean they are wrong about everything. [Laughter, applause.]

And they’re right about this. Some folks are going to lose their insurance. Millions of them, in fact.

Let me be clear: Just because you have insurance you like, doesn’t mean you can keep it. If it doesn’t meet the new federal standards, your plan is going to get canceled. I guarantee it.

Some of my political advisers say, “Hey, you can’t go out and tell people that, Obama. It doesn’t test well. People hate it in the polls.”

And you know what I told them? “I . . . don’t . . . care . . . about . . . the polls.” [Applause]

I said: “That’s the old politics. That’s what’s wrong with Washington, DC, right there. If you think I’m going to go out and lie about my plan, you’ve got the wrong guy. What did you think hope and change were all about?” [Laughter, applause.]

So, yeah, some of you are going to lose your insurance. Now, because of the marketplace we’ll set up, you’re going to go online and shop for new insurance. Some of you are going to get a better deal. If you don’t make much money, you’re going to get help from the government. [Cheers.]

But let me be clear again — and Axelrod hates this part [Laughter] — many of you are going to pay more than you did before. Maybe double. Because all of these new regulations cost money. You don’t believe in a free lunch, do you? [Confused murmurs.]

What we’re proposing is to get young, healthy people onto the exchanges so they can subsidize everyone else, by buying coverage they don’t want or need at a price that is higher than before. Why would they do that, you ask? [Faint laughter.] That’s what the individual mandate is all about. We’ve got to force them.

Democrats are a day late and a dollar short — the time to have kept the grandfathered plans was in 2010 when Republicans proposed it and Democrats, including Landreau, voted against it.

Obamacare is going to be the Gift That Keeps On Giving for the next year. I’ve got my popcorn ready to go.

* October 2013 - Harry Reid will NOT allow a vote on “you can keep your insurance”, dooming Landreau and other Senate Democrats. Obama announces that even if the Senate passes it, he would veto it.

* 1 November 2013 - The website will NOT be working, reported by MSM

* 15 December - the signups will not be cut off because millions will not have been able to sign up

* 1 Jan 2014 - Millions will lose their doctors, millions will not have insurance yet, reported by MSM

* 15 March 2014 - Exchanges will not have met their goals of signing up young healthys

* 1 April 2014 - Insurance Companies will, in their quarterly reports, disclose their expected losses for 2014, including the Federal subsidies that cover 90% of those losses — reported by the MSM

* April 2014 - Insurance companies predict 2015 rates based on 2014 experience, showing the beginnings of a death spiral. These will be leaked and reported by the MSM

* July 2014 - Heritage will compile and report the list of required federal subsidies (about $50 billion) to insurance companies, and the MSM will report it.

* August 2014 - Republican candidates will start running ads hanging all of the above on each and every Democrat House and Senate candidate.

* September 2014 - the website will finally be working, reported by the MSM, just in time to start signing up for 2015.

* October 2014 - Insurance companies will begin to send out their 90 day letters to large employers cancelling their group health policies because they do not satisfy HHS minimum standards. Companies will inform their employees (i.e., voters) MSM reports that 50 million will lose their insurance plans.

* 1 November 2014 - Insurance companies send out their 60 day letters of cancellation to the employers of another 50 million employees. MSM reports this.

* 4 November 2014 — Federal Elections

It is the ultimate folly for ANY republicrat to support this.

Is it?

The House passes a rescue bill for current policy owners with strong Republican support.

0bama poo poos it.

Reid refuses to bring it to a vote in the senate.

The 0bamaCare train wreck continues on.

0bama and the Dems continue to own it adding defiance of attempts to fix it.
