What’s the supposed issue with Cuccinelli and privacy rights?
I think this is in reference to his obsession with overturning sodomy laws and rights to sexual privacy.
The U.S. Supreme Court declined Monday to take up an appeal of a lower-court ruling that struck down Virginias anti-sodomy law, halting state Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli IIs long-standing legal efforts to preserve the statute.
Cuccinelli is the Republican nominee for governor on the Nov. 5 ballot, and Virginias crimes against nature law which bans oral and anal sex has become a flash point in his contest against businessman Terry McAuliffe (D), who has portrayed Cuccinelli as an extremist on social issues.
Cuccinelli and other defenders of the law, including local prosecutors, have said that it is a vital tool for stopping child predators. Cuccinelli has said that the law is not and cannot be used against consenting adults acting in private. - Washington Post, 10/7/13
It apparently has to do with a case involving an adult soliciting oral sex from a minor. The guy managed to get his conviction reversed in federal court, based on the unconstitutionality of anti-sodomy statutes. Cuccinelli tried to get the conviction reinstated, based on the adult-minor aspect of the case. So, no, Cuccinelli was not trying to reimpose sodomy laws.
Cuccinelli is the real, sane libertarian in the race. Sarvis, the official Losertarian, is a DINO, a 'Rat lite. Properly communicated, his positions ought to siphon more votes from McAuliffe than from Cuccinelli.
