You’ve got that right. The GOPe would want to be riding the brake, just in case a conservative won. As soon as Bush41 won as Reagan’s third term, he started signaling a detente with the left with talk of “a kinder and gentler” nation. The GOPe wants to go over the cliff only a little slower than the leftists do.
I don’t think they want to go over the cliff…I really think they’re clueless as to what works…policitally and economically. They really do think being moderate is how you win elections and how you properly govern. They are just brain dead and isolated.
