People who favored it thought they’d be getting free health care. What they are getting is gobbledygook and paying double or triple for the privilege.

pre-Obama we had the best health system in the world - the best system in the history of the world IMO. Throw out everything done since Obama took over; expand Medicaid to take over the problem areas and let the market place work.

B-b-but that would drive costs down and we don’t want that!!! Look how horrible car insurance turned out when it went on the free market: 10 billion Geico, Allstate, Prudential, Progressive commercials a day begging you to name your own price, anyyything but *please* don’t go to our competitors! Have an accident and we will reward you! How horrible!

Alternatives? How’s about the government get the hell out of the way and quit over regulating in the PRIVATE sector and we quit paying for illegals at every turn.

How about National Commerce of private healthcare insurance. I rarely hear anybody
talk about doing this. Is it some kind of Taboo death sentence for politicians?

How about scaling back insurance companies. HMOs, PPOs, managed care, Obamacare are all cartels.
Health care is not health insurance. Health care used to be less expensive until the insurance companies’ desire for more profit drove the creation of HMOs, etc. They’ve destroyed the free market for decades, substituting “capitation” and “managed care” for “fee for service” and indemnity.... Price fixing cartels and government “exchanges” are not a free market.

There is also the major issue of over regulation by the states, but that's a state issue.
We need the Feds out of everything accept our national security.

Indeed. The Texas model. Tort reform plus allowing buying insurance across state lines. This has been proven to lower costs of both premiums and healthcare by 30%, and caused a huge influx of doctors to the state.
Those who can’t afford their insurance can appeal to their church to help out with the premiums.
Problem solved. There’s the “alternative”.

Pre-tax HSAs and catastrophic insurance would work for the majority of people, insuring far more than any socialist health insurance “exchange” system.

This is not a convincing article at all to me, with numerous poorly-chosen examples. For example:
"And can you imagine the people who run the failing U.S. Postal Service creating the bureaucracy that will administer Medicare for all" What on earth does the USPS have to do with it? And actually the post office does deliver its product pretty reliably; their financial problems are due to pension obligations and falling demand, not incompetence .
