Couple the government shutdown with the debt ceiling deadline, and there is something that should be clear to everyone at this point Washington D.C. must be rendered inconsequential in the everyday lives of Americans.
Since this same debacle is going to replay itself in just a few short months, it is time for the Republicans to do what is in the best interests of the country and gut the federal government. Here are a few examples they could consider in their negotiations with Obama:

Surely, you jest. The Do-Nothing Party can’t muster the intestinal fortitude to blow the fuzz off a bee’s butt.
oh....when the ChiComs and all the others finally come to collect their 700 trillion dollars....I think we’re all gonna find that they’re quite consequential.

This is all fine if you enjoy playing “what-if” games. Without the prospect of a willing congress, it’s just an exercise in frustration.
How do we arrange a willing congress? There’s another mental exercise that will lead to frustration, or at least, it has so far...
