Democrats Plunge Federal Government Into Shutdown
Political Realities ^ | 10/01/13 | LD Jackson

Democrats Government ShutdownLet there be no mistake. The federal government is starting the process of partially shutting down and there is one group of politicians who should bear most of the blame. No, it isn't the Republicans, who have tried to negotiate a Continuing Resolution to keep the government running. That's what the media will tell us, but the truth is something completely different. The Democrats are feeding the media with their hateful and spiteful rhetoric, making all kinds of accusations against the Republicans, but if they are interested in looking at who really caused this shutdown, they should find a mirror and stare into it intently. Henceforth, this shutdown should be known as the Democratic Government Shutdown.

As with any political debate coming out of Washington, the reality is apt to be much different from the rhetoric. It is entirely possible that the Democratic Government Shutdown will blow up in the face of the Republicans. Conservatives may be blamed because of their desire to rein in government spending and its harmful effect on the American people. This is especially true with Obamacare. Is this the right time to have this fight? Possibly not and there are many conservatives who wanted to wait until after the 2014 elections to challenge their counterparts on the left. My contention is that it is totally ludicrous for the Democrats to refuse to even negotiate with the Republicans.

Do you realize that is the position held by the Democrats? The Republicans tried to keep the federal government open for business. Three different times, they sent legislation to the Senate that would do just that. Harry Reid allowed the first one to be voted down, but after that, he just declared the Republican proposals to be dead on arrival and refused to allow a vote. It reminds me of the time I tried to pay cash for a Chevrolet Silverado. I gave the salesman my price and he laughed in my face. Said I would have to make another offer. I made another offer, at a different dealership, and managed to purchase the same truck for not quite a thousand dollars over my original price. I knew I wasn't far off base when I made the first offer, but the salesman refused to negotiate. He lost the sale.

My point is this. The Republicans are not being unreasonable in trying to pass a Continuing Resolution that lessens and/or delays the burden of Obamacare on the average American citizen. They are trying to negotiate with the Democrats, but Harry Reid refuses to play ball. He is doing so with the blessings of President Obama and the other leaders of the Democratic Party. Stop and think about this for a moment. Harry Reid will not negotiate a Continuing Resolution with the Republicans, unless it starts out with the premise he wants. In other words, unless the Republicans make the concessions demanded by the Democrats, their proposal is dead in the water. The Democrats refuse to even make a counter offer and they are following the lead of President Obama, who has flatly said he will not negotiate with the Republicans.

Tell me again how the Republicans are the ones at fault for shutting down the government?

Completely true, but you think the media will take that position in their reporting?

R’s need to personalize this and call it “Harry Reid’s” shutdown. Do to him what they did to Newt.

I think there will be the usual suspects ... NBC, CNN, MSNBC .. etc., but I have a feeling there will be less vitriole spouted against "the Republicans" than what is being proposed.

More true Americans have awoken .. awakened .. woke up .... whatever ... and see the enemy in our midst.

Unfortunately, the powers that send a child home for a keychain with a quarter sized tin gun are already in place.

THEY are the sycophantic drones that will hold things up and at bay while the upper rats scurry for another ship to invade.

What, hopefully, the Democrats will have to try and explain away is the fact that the Republicans have compromised at least three times and it's the Democrats who are intransigent. I'm not holding my breath though.

“The federal government is starting the process of partially shutting down and there is one group of politicians who should bear most of the blame. No, it isn’t the Republicans,”............

The KEY part of that statement is “should bear most of the blame” but we all know the media will spin that top as hard and long as they can. DUMODUMMIES are to blame, period!
