A 12-year old Rhode Island boy named Joseph Lyssikato was suspended for three days and barred from going on a school trip to Salem, Massachusetts after a gun-shaped key chain a bit larger than a quarter fell out of his backpack at school. According to WPBF.com, the key chain fell out of Lyssikato's backpack while he was at Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School in Coventry. "Another boy then picked it up and began showing it off."
Lyssikato's mother said, "The [other] boy was the one waving it or showing it to other kids. Not Joseph. Joseph wasn't doing that." She does not understand why her son was reprimanded so harshly but the other child was not.
The school district has refused to comment on the incident.

Brainwashing at work.
They are incompetent to educate your kids, but they will brainwash them from the day you drop them off at 5 years old til the day they leave at 18 or 22 or whatever.
You’re crazy if you let these “educators” anywhere near your kids.
It’s worth saying many times...name the person who ordered the suspension.
Give their address.
Their phone number.
Their car type and license.
It’s time to cause them to sweat a bit...as they did for the boy (who has probably many times the IQ of the typical education major) and his parents.
Really. Liberals should be made to suffer as they have made others to suffer.
How rong is it going to be before they outraw the retter “L”???
They sell key chains and charms in the shapes of revolvers, pistols, and “bullets” in the lobby of a supermarket chain here in Maine.
They cost 50 cents each and come in a plastic two-part egg shell and are sold in a large gumball-type machine.
RI is LOST. We need to withdraw.
Observing how reasonable these liberal socialists are when they are given absolute power over the education system, it should leave no doubt in anyone’s mind how far they will take their gun control agenda if given absolute power over the federal government.
The kid’s just lucky they didn’t rush to his house and shoot the dog!
It is about time that these obsolete relics of war be dealt with harshly!
Obviously, chains shaped like guns is both racist and violence perverse!
My complaint is that the Comanche and other Tribal War Clubs have a very distinctive, and immediately recognizable shape, or outline that is being sold as a patented logo in this country, and around the World! And NOBODY objects! Unbelievable!
How did this happen ?!!!
To my horror, this past weekend I saw many US College football teams playing football on National TV with the symbol of the Comanche War Club on their shoes and even on their uniforms!
Trembling with fear, I could watch no more. No TV sports announcer had said anything about this horrific symbol. Unbelievable!
I drove to a sports store to buy some fishing tackle, and there in the shoe department were running shoes with the symbol of the Comanche War Club on them. I was shocked! Shocked! These were CHILDREN’S shoes!
Join me to put an end to this horror.
Some company called “Nike” makes these shoes, and has the gall to claim to have the logo patent on an OBVIOUS copy of the Comanche War Club.
BTW, how did a violence-oriented shoe company get to be named after the 1950’s symbol of Peace, the US Army’s Nike Missile?
Someone needs to name their kid “Gun” just to see the liberal teachers’ heads explode when they send him to school.
Now how do you expect a kid to get an education on an island of stupidity?
FYI: Nike was the ancient Greek goddess of victory.
” - - - FYI: Nike was the ancient Greek goddess of victory. - - - “
Oooooooooooo - - ! Ick !
Victory means that there was VIOLENCE!
This is sooooooooo bad, on so many levels!
Yet more “educator” lunacy. I guess it is true that school of education students have the lowest SAT scores. Parents beware!
Alright, just light it on fire while you are leaving. Don’t leave anything for the enemy!
Its getting to the point where I want to say to the parents, “well you damned well asked for it”.
With all that is known about government schools and teacher’s unions sending your kids to public indoctrination centers is tantamount to child abuse.
1) Home School if you have the time and ability.
2) Private School if you have the money.
3) Non-Union Charter schools if 1&2 are not possible.
I bet the school would make him student of the month if he had a key chain in the shape of an aborted baby.
or what about a keychain in the shape of a condom? I’m sure there would be no punishment for that either.
