They definitely see themselves having the upper hand.

As always, the GOP would have to buy an advertisement to explain their position, but they won’t do that. Instead, they tolerate the totally slanted coverage that the media gives them. Not fighting suggests to me that they don’t care if their message gets out or not.
I’m convinced that targeted buys would change the discussion and then their position would have to be covered. So, it would only take one such buy on each major event they wish reported correctly, and then the media would be forced to include that perspective, because people will see what the GOP was actually saying.
Is it fair that the GOP has to spend to get its perspective out? Not really, but it is very practical, and probably even cost efficient when elections roll around. They won’t need to spend so much time and resources then fighting misperceptions and erroneous information that has been spewed about them for years.
