Where is the ACLU on this one? A religious organization works with a school district to have food which is prepared according to some religious doctrine? Would this be permitted for Christian or Jewish food guidelines????

First, let me say I don’t have a problem with this. I think if schools are going to serve food then they should provide the food that is appropriate for their students.

Having said that, I’m Catholic and I remember brown-bagging because my school didn’t provide meat-free options on Fridays. I live in a largely Catholic area so it certainly would have been a good choice for a large number of the students. Maybe someone from a Jewish area can say what their experience was.
