My friend's 80 year old mother just got over the shingles a few days ago. The poor lady is already dealing with health issues after she had a bad stroke 5 years ago. I felt so bad for her when she would almost be crying while scratching her head. She was in agony. I hope I never get them. I never had chicken pox even though I had 3 brothers who had them and raised two kids who had them.

As I understand it, if you didn’t have chicken pox, you won’t(can’t?) get shingles. You should ask your doc, but a friend told me she was tested to verify her claim of never having had chicken pox, so doc told her no need for the shingles vaccine. Consider yourself lucky!
