Arthritis? You may wish to check again. Some of the previous contraindications for Shingles Vaccinations have now been waived. I do believe one must wait a year after attack to be vaccinated. But check on that as well.

Pain aside (and THAT is reason enough to get vaccine!) the illness can and does sometimes cause blindness. Patients become reclusive if Shingles spreads to face. Visualize the worst case of acne you've ever saw, times ten!

Yes, I’ve heard you can get it anywhere, including in your eyes. That would be horrible. I let it go too long before I went to the doctor. But still, I got off easy; it was on my side. It burned and stung and itched like crazy for a good six or eight months. Thought it would never end. Definitely don’t want to go through it again. I’ll ask about the shot next time I see the doctor. Thanks.
