Unskilled labor is ALL some people will ever be able to do.”
The number of people who have no skills at all is really increasing and the number of these jobs available just aren’t there any more. The lady that has cleaned for me once a month for years is getting older and has been trying to find someone she can trust who can help her and who, as she puts it, “has at least some sense”. She has been amazed at the number of young people who have never washed a window and don’t even know how to put an unfitted sheet on a bed. One person quit because she had to wipe down all the woodwork and said it was “too hard a’work”.
Welfare Queen Has A Dream
Listening to Rush yesterday, the ignorance of these people just flabbergasted me. Unbelievable. And they can vote....
This female created her situation and is demanding a business support her?? And even worse she’s working 3 months and wanting more money while her boyfriend doesn’t work.
She could go to community college or trade school...there’s a demand for healthcare workers.
She could possibly give up cable and save some money. The reception in the Bronx is great for an outside antenna. She would only have a one time cost for it’s purchase and her boyfriend could install it. Just a suggestion.
I’d be willing to bet that Shaniqua doesn’t tell the folks she gets the Section 8 voucher from, the folks she gets the SNAP from, the folks she gets the WICs certificates from, the folks she and BF get the TANF from, that she has a job.

Or that she has a live-in boyfriend who is working under the table.
To all fast food workers and other unskilled folks - it isn’t that hard to improve your lot. My wife had been a waitress for over 25 years when her legs began giving her problems. We got a simple, free typing app and she taught herself to type. She went through a temp agency and worked a couple short stints and ended up doing some filing work for a company. They were impressed with her work ethic and hired her on full time. She just retired after 20 years and was the main admin assistant. She had full benefits and now has an adequate retirement. It took a couple years to get above the waitress pay, but she ended up making $24/hr because she persevered and continued her work ethic. When she was hired she had a GED. Night classes got her an Associates, which didn’t really raise her pay much, but the self-improvement gave her a greater sense of accomplishment and worth. All it takes is a concerted effort to improve one’s lot and it can be done. being a lazy slob and howling for pay above your worth is not a career plan.
Basically, what a lot of these people want is the ability to make bad life choices and still be bailed out. Don’t want to go to tech school to learn a trade? Demand more money that you don’t deserve for your low-value minimum wage job? And have a pile of dependents while you’re working that job? Good will only extends so far. Rewarding these idlers with more pay than they deserve only encourages their semi-worthless life choices.
Change "McDonald's" to "Wal-Mart" and you have the story of my wife, who makes much more than $15 per hour at Wal-Mart, the much maligned, so called, low wage employer.
If he sees the situation and doesnt make a move to contribute financially, she needs to tell him to move on. All he is doing is taking up space and eating groceries.
...........................................................
No he is breeding her more babies she will have to support.
“When she gets $15 an hour at McDs her hours will go down because the prices will be raised and they won’t have as many customers and won’t need as many workers on each shift.”
Or, the only $15 an hour workers will be the shift manager who will load the ingredients into the hoppers for the robots to cook and assemble and the maintenance tech who will service three or four locations. This will lead to vast cost savings for the franchisees and increased sales volumes as customers will now be able to eat fast food with some assurance that no disgruntled workers are spitting (or worse) on their food.
Nope! They should be paid what they earn. The problem is there aren’t enough low skilled jobs available. They’ve been outsourced.
Lots of black kids say it’s because they don’t want to be accused of acting white. That’s just an excuse for being lazy or knowing their limitations.
I remember making excuses for why I didn’t do well in math. I didn’t like it. I thought it was stupid. I’d never have to use it. The truth is I was too damned lazy and in some cases, too damned dumb. But I would never admit that I didn’t understand algebra.
And those who are seriously developmentally disabled is a total different category. I’m talking about people who just can’t understand it.
When you ask a 20 year old what the unemployment rate is and she says “99%”, I don’t believe someone taught her that number. Her brain is mush and she vaguely remembers the 99%ers on strike against the 1%ers. And that’s as far as she cared to learn. Or will she ever be able to understand what an “unemployment rate” actually is? Probably not.
I’ll admit some of the problem is poor education. But what can we expect when we’re handing out teaching degrees to anyone who can breath but can’t spell.
You can lead a horse to water...but the best you can do is make him drown.
The true minimum wage is $0.00, which is exactly what you get if you price your labor out of what the market will bear.
Benefits like EITC are only available if you work at least part time. And you can get all day childcare at a discount, even if you work part time, through various programs to help mothers on aid work.
Unfortunately, they tend to choose part time work instead of working full time, to retain the benefits.
If he’s unemployed, either make him get a job or move back home with a relative. Her financial strain is probably due to supporting him, instead of the other way around.
She pays the rent with public assistance but struggles to afford food, diapers, subway and taxi fares, cable TV and other expenses with her paycheck.
Why “cable TV?” Doesn’t she have a public library? She could check out movies and educational materials. She could even work on a degree program so she can get a job that pays a better salary.
