Infantry v. armor-supported by infantry is in a world of hurt. Irregulars must have decent shoulder fired anti tank weapons and pre-implant IED’s along the likely approaches. Some mortar to harrie the supporting infantry helps. Even then, a quick exit route is a must. Rebels need a friendly or at least neutral populace to melt into when exiting. Going up against an oppressive government is a difficult and often fatal decision. One needs a noble reason and be desperate.
