Rand Paul is a smart fellow. He realizes that the “birther” movement has been marginalized by the media, and to publically go along with them is to invoke the cries of “racism” and “nationalism” that would cost him an election before it starts.
Intellectual consistency will not slow down the 'Rats. The are perfectly capable of the doublethink necessary to ignore whether Obama is eligible at the same time they are screaming that Cruz isn't. But they are smart enough to wait until Cruz is either nominated or at least when it is too late to effectively replace him if it looks like he is going to be nominated before trying to destroy him.
We must be prepared for all of their arguments. The 'Rats are very good at wargaming their plans, looking at how we will likely respond and then planing their second and third moves.
