Our Red Sox are on top of the AL East, but it's a shaky lead, IMO. Their starting pitchers are shaky at best. Lackey has improved, but Lester seems to have lost it. Not sure what the heck is going on with Clay Buchholz, or how long he'll stay healthy whenever he returns.

Batters like Napoli (who is something like 0 for 17) and Brandon Snyder really need to either get glasses, or re-learn how to connect the bat with the ball... hubby and I cringe lately when they come up to bat.

The TB Rays are RED HOT, and have better pitching than the Red Sox, from what I've seen lately. Rays' outfielder Wil Myers is amazing. If Longoria recovers from that foot injury by the post-season, I think the Rays are going to be very hard to beat.

The Red Sox start a 4-game stand tonight at the also red-hot Kansas City Royals. In previous years, facing the Royals was like facing the current lowly Houston Astros. You expect a team like the Red Sox to win, if not sweep the series.

The Red Sox did not sweep the Astros (over the past 3 nights), and it was looking pretty dismal for the Sox last night until Stephen Drew hit a 3-run homer in the 9th.

Just my 2 cents...

Well, unfortunately the Red Sox woes I mentioned in #37 above continued during last night's Red Sox-Royals game...

As usual, Jon Lester had "difficulty" during the 1st inning. Kansas City quickly got a run on the scoreboard. Then Lester loaded the bases. In come two more runs... KC leads the Sox 3-0.

It took Lester 41 pitches to finally get out of the first inning.

Hardly the "ace" we need heading late into the season...

Super slumper Mike Napoli hit into a double play to end the game. Red Sox lose to the Royals 5-1.

Oh well... maybe tonight we'll have better luck with Peavy on the mound.
