l...but everyone seemed to want him...
That’s a lie.
I don’t want to fight about this, but it cannot be a lie when the doosh ended up with the nomination.
Well, let’s just say your memory is faulty.
Have you forgotten the bitter wars around here as factions gathered around their preferred candidates and the slurs they used to demean those who failed to agree with them or their candidates? Cainiacs? Newtie Rooters? Perrybots? Saint Santorum? Paultards?
Yes, of course there were Romney supporters here, and many more after he got the nomination. Sure, he was a bad candidate, he ran a rotten campaign, but would he have been better than Obama as president? I would say yes, maybe not much better, but still better.
But during the primaries, the Romney supporters here were in the distinct minority, though maybe it seemed to you “everyone” was in that camp.
That just wasn’t the case.
There were too many candidates, and not one of them was so good that he or she was an overwhelming, obvious choice. Each had strengths, and each had weaknesses.
And that was reflected in the country in general, and the country went for the default candidate, with the obvious and predictable results.
