So basically, you stick two male penguins in a cage together, they might go “gay for the stay”, like prison inmates?
If you watch “The March of the Penguins” IIRC, you'll see examples of male penguins cooperating in the wild to care for an egg that has lost it's mother.
But that's not homosexuality, it's social cooperation.
When I had the brief opportunity to talk to Sarah Hrdy at the Nobel Conference on the Evolution of Sex back circa 1987(?) — I asked her if she'd observed homosexual behavior among the chimps she'd studied.
She said NO.
This manufacturing of “homosexual” behavior among wild animals came some time after that.
It's social cooperation, not rainbow homosexuality. That's what I think.
