I thought it was parallel development from the Military/Intel world; we’re both wrong, it was developed from a set of algorithms used for earthquake predictive analysis.
You all can read the full story here http://westernshootingjournal.com/technology/predict-technology-preventing-crime-before-it-happens/
How about pulling the section 8 housing maps? I am quite sure you will be able to predict where most of the crime will happen with it.
“Let me guess.....where there are the biggest numbers of drug dealers and/or gang members! What do I win?”
No, I want to guess: Crime will happen in the ghetto! Now, what do I win? ;-)
Unless there’s a red ball.
So a big concern is who’s paying for this experiment and what rights will be violated in the future to seek deeper information so law enforcement can predict.
At least they are being honest.
Your hard earned money gets to fund what you just told us. Thanks, you could’ve saved us all some dough.
HAHA
I was wondering if they are using the same program that Homeland Security is using that keeps telling them it’s the Tea Party who are terrorist.
They could tie into the scanners at gas stations, and figure out where the most skittles, watermelon drink, and blunt sleeves are being sold, and go to those neighborhoods.
Or, they could go full analog, and just go to where the most crime is being reported daily.
I seem to remember a few years ago that Oklahoma used a new computer modeling program to determine where a serial rapist/murderer probably lived.
They knew that serials usually don’t commit rapes in their own neighborhood, but in areas surrounding their home and programed in several other profiling data point.
It might even have been that famous BTK guy that they caught with it.
At any rate, computer programs can probably work on some types of criminals which have recognizable parameters in their MOs.
Don’t forget about monitoring, in real time, the purchases of blunts.
Now, if they could just get the bums off the streets....
