Knowing how to safely field strip a 1911 pistol is a must for any new shooter. American Handgunner's Roy Huntington breaks this down into a simple step-by-step process.

On a Luger, you push back the barrel with you left hand and turn a lever right under the barrel at the gun’s left side. Then you’re home free.
Bought a Luger in 1961 from a newspaper ad for $40 and it was delivered at my home through the mail.
I remember those days well. One odd thing is tho you could send gun through the mail you could not do the same with ammo.
Back around 1987 a bunch of Lugers came on the market. I had my neighbor who was a dealer order me one. They were advertised as excellent with non matching numbers.
The one I got was made by Mauser in 1939. It was in excellent plus condition which made me wonder where they came from. Mine also had all matching numbers except for the mag. I think I was lucky.
Mine came in a Century Arms box which looked like a typical factory box tho they were made just for this bunch of Lugers I suppose. No paperwork at all tho. One would think they would have had a simple manual printed up.
I really wish I had kept mine.
I saw that video too when I first bought mine, but I never needed the paper clip.
I did the same thing.....
Don’t feel bad....It stands out on a stainless steel finish
Oh yeah....love my 92FS....so simple even a caveman can do it
Saved for future use.....Thanks a bunch. No 1911’s around here but am looking..
