Well I might suggest something a bit more pointed that “I can’t support your agenda” as one might as well hang for a sheep as a goat. How about “What’s it going to take to persuade you fellows to call a truce in the black on black crime that’s dragging our policing resources way down and not winning you any happiness prizes either?”

Another Florida Sheriff soon to be out of a job? Sheriff is an elected position. He will only be out of a job if he chooses to resign, or doesn't run for re-election.
