No Country For Young People (Unemployment, Obamacare Premiums, Homeownership Rates)

As high schools and universities turn out more and more students (like George Mason University), I felt it was time to review the economic environment facing the young people in the US, aka “Millennials.” My conclusion? This is no country for young people. At least in the current state of affairs.

Let’s start with healthcare premiums under the “affordable” healthcare act. According to a study by the American Action Forum, 45% of respondents who are currently covered report they would no longer purchase health insurance and would instead pay the penalty each year if their premium costs increase 30% in 2014.

And for young people, the insurance premiums will rise dramatically as well. From the article:

“This apples-to-apples assessment shows how much higher exchange-plan premiums will be. For example, a 25-year-old male who lives in San Francisco can purchase a “California 40/4000″ policy from Kaiser today that has a $40 copayment for office visits after a $4,000 deductible, with a $5,600 out-of-pocket maximum, for $140 per month. Kaiser’s most comparable exchange policy—a “bronze” plan with the minimum benefits and the highest out-of-pocket costs—has a $5,000 deductible with a $6,400 out-of-pocket maximum, although it allows three office visits per year that are exempt from the deductible. It costs $227, 62% higher than its current comparable plan, the California 40/4000.”

And from CNN, “But some people, particularly young men who aren’t insured through their employers, could see their premiums go up once coverage in the state-based insurance exchanges begins in January.”

Homeownership for the young? And USA Today found that homeownership rates are falling most for people aged 25-34.

And 16-19 unemployment rates remain appallingly high. Higher than Detroit’s unemployment rate! And much higher than the national average.

Real median income for the young? The real median income growth for 15-24 age group is negative. And the growth rate for 25-34 is declining.

Then of course there is the massive student debt problem placing handcuffs on college graduates. However, this is a self-inflicted wound by choosing to borrow rather than work and save.

Sadly, this is “No country for young people.”

It serves every one of those ignorant university Democrats right if they starve. Elections have consequences, and anyone who was asinine enough to be more concerned about taxpayer-provided contraceptives than getting a job should suffer.

Well, no, the young are among the chief boosters of Obama. They like paying “their fair share” to borrow an old line from the liberal United Way.

The Millennials voted for everything that is coming down the pike. And they will vote for it again and again, until they grow up. If they ever grow up, which at this point is in doubt. It's just too easy to live in mom's basement and play Xbox or text with your peeps.

I can't say that I feel the least bit sorry for them.

It may serve them right, but having millions of disgruntled, unemployed youths lounging about is never good for a nation. That is the recipe for the start of many a fascist/communist takeover.

The young (and old) who voted for LIBs, nobama and the assorted destroyers of civilization deserve to suffer extraordinarily. Enjoy the ride, you LIB losers. Unfortunately, many of us have to go with you. Oh, well. I think most of us are survivors.

EXACTLY! ...and these same geniuses will utterly freak when they don’t get the yearly tax refund that they’re accustomed to... Can’t wait to watch!

Just like the young Eurobots..they vote socialist and keep taking the hits. They just can’t put two and two together to figure out what is hurting them.

Reeling from his over 4 year failure to achieve his stated goal of “Fundamentally changing the United States of America,” Communist Tyrant B. Hussein Obama has embarked on another expensive road trip to try to sell his Commune-Style power grab of 1/6 th of the US economy by promoting the idea that increased Federal debt is the best way of salvation for the over-taxed Middle Class.

The problem is not with loyal Communist Obama, as he is just doing what his Communist trainers have taught him to do.

The problem lies with the sorry House RINOs who keep John Boehner on as their useless, Commie Obama enabler Speaker.

Nothing is going to help Commie Obama more than to keep John Boehner on as Speaker of the House.

Boehner has repeatedly stated his baseless fear that “If the Republicians stand up and oppose Obama we might be blamed by the Liberals for __________________(Fill in the blank).”

It is time for the House RINOs to step up to the plate and fight FOR The Republic, and not wallow in the baseless fears of losing the fake prasie of Liberals when a “Bi-Partisan Cave-In” is finally agreed to.

The reality is that WE would cheer “Shutting down the Government,” and it’s ‘non-essential’ Federal expenditures, or “playing politics” with Commie Obama’s “phony scandals” such as the Obama coverup of the Benghazi Massacre, or the NSA, or IRS, etc., etc., etc.

Rather than taking the fight TO the enemy, in this case the inexorable attempt to turn our Republic into a Communist State, Boehner has consistently shown that he is not a fighter by running FROM the enemy.

It is time during Commie Obama’s con-artist tour of the remaining Liberal bastions in America for us to demand from our sorry House RINOs that they depose scardy-cat Boehner as Speaker, and install a FIGHTER worthy of our trust in his/her record of defeating Communist Con-Artists such as B. Hussein Obama.

What say all of you?

Stupid decisions have consequences. Bad ones. The blame the Boomers for being in their way. The reality is that 16-24 year olds aren’t prepared or experienced enough to take a professional job from a Boomer. The other thing is the Boomers would love to retire but every generation that retires into an economy like this one has a failed retirement. You simply can’t afford to retire into this kind of economy even if you have saved enough under normal circumstances.

Another thing, 40 million millennials are not going to replace 80 million boomers if the work is still needed. If the economy didn’t suck there would be plenty of jobs to go around. In fact, there would be a worker shortage.

It is true, the youngsters face a bleak future. If we can somehow have a revival and turn around it will take years to recover. They are facing at least TEN years of economic malaise... if they are lucky. Right now I’m not thinking about recovery. I’m just praying it does not get terribly worse. All signs are that it will get worse soon. There are no good reasons to think otherwise.

Stupid decisions have bad consequences. The stupid decision of electing obastard has produced a bleak future for all of us but especially for the people who are trying to build a future.

I’m not in this spot, but one of the reasons boomers are having to work longer is because they spent a lot more on their kids’ “education”, and now have to support them, in that they have no discernible skills other than xBox, Facebook and shopping.

The damage done from NOT working IMMEDIATELY, at a good job, right after college is tremendous over the course of a career. It can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars over 40 years.

Fact is, you probably can’t make up for starting late. It means you WILL, at best, finish late.

It is a savings time frame unless starting late means you don’t advance.
