Why hasn’t Mark Knopfler of Dire straits been pilloried for singing about “that little faggot with the earring and the makeup?” He should be held to the same standard as Paula Deen!
Actually, there was a recent story about that song being pulled from Muzak rotations.
There was a short lived ban of the song in Canada but the ban got drowned in a sea of ridicule.

He was making fun of a less educated working stiff. He was not being offensive to an enlightened protected class of progressive persons who are only following the desires they were born with. Why all the hate? (Yes, sarcasm is included in this post.)
I heard that song not too long ago and the word “faggot” was bleeped out. I think I looked it up on youtube trying to find “Brothers in Arms”.
