Why Are White People So Touchy About Being Called Racist?

I’ve often pondered the question, why are white people so touchy about being called out for racism?

I know some of you will say that racism is much more than the hurtful prejudice of a marginal few. Agreed. Racism is also inherited structural and political inequity by race resulting in persistent poverty, health disparities, and deficits of opportunity in communities of color. And as with all kinds of oppression, racism is ultimately kept in place by violence and the threat of violence (think in terms of lynchings, cross-burnings, KKK raids, etc. throughout our history). Simple prejudice seems pretty minor by comparison.

However, the powerful effect of white people’s touchiness on this subject should not to be underestimated. In fact, I think it goes hand in hand with the threat of violence in perpetuating racism.

For instance, racial inequality nowadays relies more heavily on the intimidation and violence of the war on drugs and immigration enforcement than on the terrorism of vigilante groups. But, racist immigration and drug enforcement policies are founded on the widespread popularity of racial stereotypes that falsely criminalize black men as the source of the illegal drug problem in the U.S., and immigrants of color as drains on our economy. In other words, ordinary prejudice is as much a part of the oppressive equation for communities of color as violence and intimidation, and the fact that these ordinary forms of prejudice are expressed through major public institutions is possible because we deny that these stereotypes are grounded in prejudice at all.

We need to marginalize ordinary racist stereotypes and behavior, and this starts with calling racism out, even when those guilty of it get touchy because they are unable to recognize their acts as racist.

But, why so touchy?

I can’t speak for all white people, just like this silly author can’t speak for the experiences of all black people or Hispanics. For a vast number of white people it is fair to say that they reject the accusation of racism because they don’t care about race. Conservatives, for the most part, fit into that category. Regardless of someone’s color or ethnic background, if they hold to conservative values and principles, they are one of us. It’s an ideological thing, but also a moral thing.

The biggest glitch with Critical Race Theory is that all the problems of one race are blamed on the racism, personal and institutional, of white people. Without trying to change the minds of black people who think this way, something that can’t be done, nothing good will ever come of that thinking. Black people can’t do anything to improve their crime statistics, their education, or job statistics until they stop the degeneration of their culture. White people can’t do it, no matter how many times we are called racists. Black people can’t do it if they insist upon being more militant and bigger racists than the worst of white people.

Our immigration policies are not racist. Illegal immigration ignores our policies. There is a difference. Enforcement of our immigration policies isn’t institutionalized racism.

What is the truth? The truth is this, the vast majority of whites are not racists, but the real racists, most blacks, are intensely racist. Additionally, there is a huge political agenda behind political correctness that is being fostered by progressives/socialists/communists....

Yup, he got us on that one!

Us white people are all out burning crosses and lynching black folks! Yup, and those Norwegians are still burning seacoast villages, those Germans still marchin' into Paris, and the Injuns are still scalpin' settlers...

It’s a valid counter-question. “Racist” is used as a perjorative, a demeaning insult with little basis in practical applicability, a put-down imputing malice where rarely true.

Well worth the 7 minutes.

LOL, yes it is. That was the best 7 minutes I have experienced today. Is he a political office holder, or just a disgusted citizen, like us?

Can’t say ‘niggardly’ either, can we?!

I used that word in a post recently, and it disappeared. So apparently not.

the best part is when I bring one of my closest friends, a right-wing Filipino guy, and he blasts these idiots.

My right wing Filipina wife is always asking these idiots if they know where the sun don't shine.

You know? This is hilarious coming from someone with a Japanese surname.
Japan is probably the most racially pure place on the planet.

Fantastic video, saw several weeks ago and have posted it on a few threads too. He loves his country and culture and says if that makes him a racist, than so be it. He says he does not hate other races, he just loves his own country.

A bit more about Paul Weston:

Paul Weston is a British politician and leader of the Liberty GB Party in the U.K who dearly loves his country and wants the culture to remain as it has been for a long time. But he sees that changing now and because of his outspoken passion on this, he’s been labeled a ‘racist’ by everyone, he says.

Why are ignorant sub-human, low IQ, morons so sure they know what goes on in a superior mind?

Go ahead, call me a racist, make my day as as soon as the race card is played I know I won the debate as they are out of intellectual ammo.

I base my macro opinions on the bell curve of various cultures, races, religions... and opinions on individuals based solely on their behavior. More often than not, the two opinions are in sync, other times the difference proves the rule.

I don’t know the history of this idea of ‘racism’, other that the word is not present in 100+ year old English dictionaries, and that Leon Trotsky is sometimes credited with inventing it. Because it is a 20th century invention, like the transistor and electric gittar, and it describes what is known to exist in every human society under the name of ethnocentrism, and in sane societies it is tolerated, because there is no cure - members of an ethnic group will always be loyal to their own group and wary of others... D’UH! Like the Japanese. Whether or not Trotsky invented it, the Soviets and their agents, here and elsewhere, used it as a psychological weapon in their war against Western Civilization, and, as we can see, used it quite successfully. Its most obnoxious aspect is the subliminal association with the racial studies and experiments of good Dr Mengele (no, I don’t mean Lawrence Olivier), the effect of which has been a taboo, if that’s the word, in the West on any studies related to race.

I, for one, keep insisting that this ‘racism’ thing is something that doesn’t exist. Like global warming, it is a thing in which existence one has to believe.

60 I have always found it interesting that it is white liberals who are able to intimidate other white people by accusing them of being racists. What power do Blacks (who make up 12% of the population) have against white people who make up 75-80% of the population?

You need a shot of statistical reality. Allow me ...

 1965 – U.S. population was 87.8% white and 10.5% black.
 2012 – More U.S. babies were born to minorities than whites.
 2012 - D.C., HI, CA, NM, and TX had minority populations >50%.
 2012 - U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) began issuing green cards (permanent legal resident) to same sex spouses.
 2013 – U.S. population is 63% white, 15% Hispanic, and 13% black. (a 24.8% decrease of whites over 48 years since the passage of the 1965 Hart-Celler Act)
 2013 - >45% of students in K-12 are minorities.
 2013 – Democrats in Congress are attempting to reform U.S. immigration law to provide a path to citizenship for a majority of the ~11-30 million illegal alien Hispanics believed to be in the U.S. If this happens, it will dramatically alter the USCB projections of the racial make-up of the U.S. population. Democrats are also working for a policy change that covers illegal alien homosexuals in the U.S. to provide them a path to full citizenship.
 2013 – 40% of live births in the U.S. were out of wedlock. White rate = 33%, Hispanic rate = 50%, Black rate = 72%
 2018 - U.S. Census Bureau projects the number of non-white children in grades K-12 will be >50%.
 2020 - 8 more states (AZ, FL, GA, MD, MS, NV, NJ, and NY) are projected to become minority majority.
 2024 - The white population is projected to peak at 200 million before entering a steady decline in absolute numbers.
 2039 - Racial and ethnic minorities will make up a majority of the U.S. work-age population. They will be helping to support a disproportionately elderly white population through Social Security and other payroll taxes. More than 1 in 4 people ages 18-64 will be latino.
 2043 – Whites are projected to decline to <50% of the population. Racial and ethnic minorities will collectively become a U.S. majority. Hispanics will drive most of the minority growth, due mostly to high birth rates, jumping in share from 17 % (2013) to 26%.

Because most of us are NOT racist. I am a product of Scot, English, French, German and Cherokee. And I have the Celt genes the strongest. Typical American. We all bleed the same color RED.

Blacks or if you prefer the PC term African American though a lot never set foot in that country or came from there, are the sensitive ones, they can call each other that bad word ever other word out of their mouths, but I can’t react when called a cracker, honky or on my step-dad’s side a WOP. And if I lived in the old west just that tad of Cherokee would have had me called a Squaw.

3 of my great grands are mixed races. I love them no less.To bad their dads turned out to be criminals and are behind bars.

And don’t forget it was your fellow tribes that sold you into slavery, and blacks owned slaves. MLK JR for the ignorant was a REPUBLICAN! He knew who blocked voting rights for his people DEMS.
