The actual title "Crash Rocket "Proton-M with 3 Glonass Spacecraft" is not quite the Queen's English version. Obviously, the poster is not proficient in foreign languages such as English, the title really making no sense. So I took the liberty to post the title to what seemed the most likeliest.
Good thing they've allowed our astronauts passage to the ISS on their Sputnik-like performance rockets. Those babies can fly.
It blowed up real good.
I thought they licked that problem 50 years ago.
Big Ping and Bang!
I wonder how accurate the Russian GPS system is since they will be down three satellites ?
Wow. Never has anyone been made to feel so inadequate as I did when viewing your awesome version. I was almost embarrassed by the weenie-sized comparison of the video I posted to the overwhelmingly impressive video you did. :-)
Good show!
It's part of their defense against our Patriot missile batteries.
As soon as a Patriot launch is detected, their ICBMs go into "evade" mode, as you saw in the Proton launch video.
As the missile runs out of fuel, it dives into the ground and explodes.
All seriousness aside, rockets are very complicated machines that have to pretty much work perfectly under the most demanding conditions imaginable or else "boom."
The U.S. Atlas V rocket uses the Russian-designed RD-180 engine, which exhibits outstanding reliability.
For the Launch ,i’ll agree closer is better.
However you can’t enjoy the grace and grandeur offered by an exploding rocket, except from a distance. :)
But now, let me throw one at you.The mainstay of the Soviet tank brigade, the T-34, is credited with having contributed to the Soviet's victory over Germany in WW2. The German tanks were technologically more sophisticated, firepower more than a match for the T-34. The T-34 was thickly armored, simplistic in design, allowed the Soviets to churn 'em out by the thousands.
It was the T-34 more than any single military piece of hardware that won them the war. It was based on a design by an American. Knowing that has contributed to the arrogant American jingo that's in my DNA, blood.
You’re very kind to say that. Your magnanimity makes me blush. :-)
At least the Russians still have a space program. NASA had been tasked to make Mohammedans feel good about themselves, last I heard, something about Arabic translations of Greek texts being more important than the authors of those original Greek texts.

In fact T-34 wasn’t that primitive. AFAIK the German Panther was a result of Hitler’s order to utilize most of it’s technology. I’ve also read Germans fond T-34’s v12 diesel too advanced to mass-produce using their skills and tooling.
They had pretty advanced aircraft at the time too. Even the troubled F-35 fighter is based on Russian technology (Yak-141) bought from Yakovlev desing company in 1990s.
Oh excellent....another Russian Rocket launch, Pass the Popcorn.
There was a series on TV a few years ago that charted the Russian space program from end to end ; it is a shame so many people where killed for real because the explosions where truly awe-inspiring.
I believe they hold the record: 64 engines(!) and observers killed a mile away.
The first N1 (moon booster) launch destroyed one of the two launchpads needed for a successful manned mission to the Moon, and the launchpad was never replaced. Another N1 launch ended in about a minute, a few miles up. Of course, the Russian engines (and all the space programs in the world) came from captured V2 engines, which the Russians back-engineered.
They have launched more orbital missions than everyone else combined (I didn’t look that one up, but I’m pretty sure about that) and of course have had many more failures. Not to defend our enemies, but the Russian engines rooted in WWII German designs have been pretty reliable and their latest gen kerosene burning designs are the most efficient ever made in that line.
