“I can’t point to specifics but get the feeling that the left is much better at long range planning than we are.”

I can point to two very specific examples proving your theory 1000% correct.

If you want an example of the left’s long range vision, look at Obamacareless. Obamacareless wasn’t first thought of by the leftist masterminds of today. Actually, it was cooked up by the early 20th century Progressiviks, most notably John McLame’s idol Teddy Roosevelt. It took the left a hundred years, but they got what they always wanted: Socialized medicine to rule the masses. It started off small, then along came Medicare. Then Medicaid. Oh look! Nationalized health care!

The Republican Party stinks at setting goals and is even worse at meeting them. The EPA, which wasn’t even created by a law passed by CONgress, is still in existence. Guess what? The Department of Education (which doesn’t educate anyone) is still around. Sure Reagan and Bush I had horrible CONgresses to deal with, But until 2006, Bush II had both the House and the Imperial Senate and did nothing to reduce the size of government.

Thanks, Alan. Yeah, even very short term - I think back to Holder’s slip (at letting it get out) about “brainwashing” the public on gun control. A few years later, and here we are - beaten to a pulp and far, far worse than any of us thought possible 10 years ago. Let’s face it, they were astounding successful so far and it’ll probably get worse.

Does the GOP plan anything even that far ahead? Doesn’t seem like it.

Now that I think about it, there’s another aspect to this. Teamwork. Or maybe I should say unity of purpose, because teamwork suggests a voluntary enthusiasm which may only be partially true. So whether it’s from payoffs, arm twisting or whatever, still it’s a coordinated effort time after time, and successful time after time.

And on our side, what? “Vet the candidates better.” Some winning strategy - not. Sure, we have goals, like - “enforce the 2nd amendment”. But goals are pie in the sky - there doesn’t seem to be any planning or strategy. Really, I can’t think of a single one: 2nd amendment, DOMA, right-to-life, relief from big gov’t, protection of national rights from the push for a one-world gov’t. What’s our strategy to make some headway on these issues?
