The thing about metals is that when one is in the "thick of things" they won't do you much good. But, during the "painful recovery period" after stored food provisions have run out they may be very helpful.

Acquiring metals is certainly not the *first* thing to do in preparedness, but they make sense as one of the subsequent steps.

One thing I've started doing lately is sending silver rounds to my son who is living on the other side of the country. I know he doesn't have room to store a lot of food, but he can store some rounds. I look at it as being "better than nothing".

Besides ... they're practically giving silver away these days!
