The Seventies were a very different time. In 1961 “Negro” still had a stigma attached to it — whatever the case was later.

Sorry, but this still doesn't jibe with Stanley Armour Dunham's personal associations. He obviously wasn't worried about any stigmas since he was photographed by Barack Sr. and was good friends with Frank Marshall Davis.

Or the Dunhams were in the counter-intelligence business and assigned to keep an eye on Mr. FMD.

Never quite understood how a family what happened to be living in the same two cities where America’s most technologically advanced bombers were being built since 1945 then ended up in Hawaii during the cold war.

He was a ‘furniture salesmen’ and she was a .... (fill in the blank) and then somehow made VP the states largest bank?

Later on daughter is working for the CIA front company Ford Foundation (after living in Indonesia right after the US topples a communist leader that involved bloody massacres.)

Well connected family from Wichita....

I want to see that photograph please. And any evidence that the kenyan and Stanley Armour Dunham knew each other, would be most welcome.

Maybe they didn't think of themselves as "Negroes" either.

In any case, grandma may not have thought the same way as grandpa.
