Until the allies had a foothold on the continent after D-Day, what could they have done?
The arguement is that they could have bombed the rail
lines to the camps and even the camps themselves.
The allies focus was the destruction of the Nazi war
machine, the jews paid the price.
Never have understood why some effort wasn’t made to
interdict.
That's my thinking as well. Also,I've heard it said that the decision was made at the highest levels that, given the circumstances, the best way to help the Jews was to win the war.I'm no military strategy expert (highest rank attained=SP5) but that sounds like a logical...realistic...approach.
The US / UK could have bombed / sabotaged the railroad tracks, all support systems leading to the camps, assassinated the camp commanders. There was much that could have been done. But FDR and his crew did not give a sh*t about the Jews. One of, if not the worst chapter of American history.
Today we have another Holocaust - Sudan. What is the US doing about this? What is the US doing to prevent Africa from falling into the hands of Islamic Jihad? Read what's going on here: South Sudan News
They could have mounted a massive propaganda offensive.
Better than doing nothing.
