A dying girl who needs a lung transplant and only has weeks to live has will receive the long-awaited lung transplant she so desperately needs. Sarah Murnaghan, the 10-year-old Pennsylvania girl dying of cystic fibrosis, received national attention after HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius refused to help.

Which in all reality was being pushed to the front of the line.
My, your faith in this government/HHS and “the listing” is heartwarming.
Here are your choices:
a) Comeback with a snarky insult and prove you have an overwhelmingly, compelling juvenile need and fixation to have the last word, or
b) Ignore my comment.
I have a wager with the guy in the next office that your lack of self control will compel you to select option “a” and prove me right.
Children receiving shaved lungs rarely last a year, and I think I have these numbers right, only 5 children have ever reached the 5 year make.
Yes, all life is precious, but do you have any clue what this child and her family will go through for the rest of her life?
There is a reason I prefaced my remark with “It is my understanding from this article.....”.
My actual belief is the Sebelius “I can’t do anything about it” ploy was overridden by a higher authority within the Obama Thugacracy that did not want this to derail other of their creative emotional ploys diverting our attentions from their actual focus.
These Leftists are not emotional over some little girl with cystic fibrosis, only any political gain they can derive from her condition by using it to their fullest advantage.
I work in a pediatric transplant hospital. I know more about liver & intestine transplants than lungs but I do have some knowledge.
Patients are listed based on blood type, height, weight, and disease severity (oxygen requirements, cardiac functions, etc etc). Those who are sickest receive priority & are listed as a status 1A.
I do not have faith in the government & HHS. My faith is in the physicians treating their patients, who know their patients. This situation is an example of bureaucratic control superseding the judgment of the doctors who know this patient & who felt that, at age 10, she could be moved to the adult list. All FReepers should be opposed to some office paper-pusher controlling these sorts of things from afar.
My point was that you have no proof that the “media circus” got this child a set of lungs, bumping someone else. You are speculating & making wilds accusations that are both irresponsible & detract from the real issue, which is gov intrusion into what should be a private industry (Heath care).
We won’t know will we? I am very close to the lung transplant community.
So that your 4yo twins wouldn’t have a mother or a father that was out of the picture. Don’t be saying what you would do unless you walk in those shoes.
Is anyone on the list a 45 year old smoker?
The article does not state that Sarah received a set of adult lungs.
If she received pediatric lungs, then the judge’s order is irrelevant.
If she received adult lungs, then someone who otherwise would have been first on the list did not receive a transplant.
Again, it’s a Zero Sum Game with at least one person dying and one person for now being denied a transplant.
We are in the exact same place as we would be if the judge did not make a decision in Sarah’s favor.
Why stop there? Any fat chicks? How about somebody with a low IQ? Or a mere burger flipper? /s
Do you not understand that Sarah will NEVER have a “normal” life?
