...IRS employees don't tell tales. When questioned in the audit, no one would tell the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, Russell George, who had given the order to target conservatives.

As they say in prison, you don't survive in the IRS by snitching:

It’s more accurate to say they’re acting like cops, when one or more is under investigation.

I thought there was a law that when a federal employee claims the 5th or does not answer questions in an investigation, it meant immediate dismissal and loss of any pension or benefits?

They know who conducted the audits and who signed off on them. Maybe their tongues will loosen up when THEY are sent to prison. Inquiring minds would want to know how the new convict’s families are being supported while the bread winner is in the slammer. But then, some of these federal employees might be willing to put their families through 5 years of welfare payments if it means a big payday under the table later. Meanwhile, they get 5 years of 3 hots and a cot at a minimum security prison in Arizona where they can golf and play tennis all day.

You are on the right track with your line of reasoning.

The underlings have families/children, mortgages and expectations.

When those former certainties devolve, complicate or evaporate there will be a race to cut a deal. These aren’t exactly MS-13 types...

I wonder how many of these employees are being closely monitored by the 0bama SS. Oh wait, they ARE the 0bama SS. LOL

It won't be long until we learn how much these people really love Dear Leader. When the talk of serious prison time begins wafting through the office, I think several tongues will loosen up.

The IG review was an “audit”, not an investigation. According to his testimony, the IG allowed supervisors to attend every interview session. Of course they didn’t snitch. This thing needs a full blown independant prosecutor to get to the bottom of this. When that happens, you’ll see closed lips start to open.
