I think we should be building nuclear plants in large quantities. I’d take McCains plans for 12 and double it, and have twice as many more sites prepared. I’d go with the most cost effective fuel, provided that the plants are safe.

The plants we build should be designed with the idea that may be retrofitted in the future to burn different fuels.

So how are you going to get around the “environmentalists” and their “Green” Religion? How are you going to pay off the politicians to get started? How are you going to break OPEC’s strangle hold on energy and Politics? Good and economic ideas do not just get going especially in this corrupt political atmosphere, you have to pay off the power brokers/government.

It sounds great, but does anyone here know how the existing handful of Thorium reactors have performed so far?
I've been searching and all I find is hype but no practical results.

I would build the small scale reactors that could be about the 4 times the size of naval reactors and put one in every town or city. Less construction cost and maintenance than the Mega reactors of the 70’s and 80’s

I’m not sure I would do that. But I would have every town of 50,000 or more prepare a site so that one of the small concrete encased reactors could be dropped in and quickly connected, in the event of a disaster or grid disruption. Then I’d have several of those reactors ready to go at a moment’s notice.
