Really?…..Really?!……REALLY?!?

Hat tip to CJ for this:

A 6-year-old kindergartner sparked an uproar at his Massachusetts school when he was spotted brandishing a tiny plastic Lego gun on the school bus last week.

Mieke Crane, the child's mother, insists that officials at Old Mill Pond Elementary School in Palmer overreacted when another student saw the toy, which is slightly bigger than a quarter, and alerted the driver Friday.

'She [driver] said he caused quite a disturbance on the bus and that the children were traumatized,' Crane told the local station WGGB.

Really? REALLY?!....REALLY?!?

I'm so glad the child didn't bring aboard any high-capacity Lego magazines, either. Here's the size of what he was brandishing:

Tiny weapon: A 6-year-old kindergarten student was slapped with detention for bringing this Lego gun, which is only slightly larger than a quarter, on a school bus

This isn't unprecedented, as it also happened to a NYC 4th grader as well 3 years ago:

An extremely menacing and traumatizing sight: A 2" Lego policeman with a clearly "oversized" assault weapon

Patrick Timoney, a 9-year-old student at PS 52 in Staten Island, N.Y., was in the school cafeteria Tuesday playing with LEGOs when he was taken to the principal’s office and threatened with suspension. One of his toys was a LEGO policeman that holds a 2-inch plastic gun. The school has a no-tolerance policy when it comes to toy guns.

“You don’t traumatize a child who loved to go to school, who wanted to be early every day to school, you don’t make him cry, you don’t make him fill out statements,” she told WNBC, holding back tears. “You don’t do it.”

Pat Timoney, the boy’s father and a retired police officer, was also upset, saying that he’s dealt with people who use imitation weapons as a way to threaten others and commit crimes, and that this situation is different, considering the pinky-size gun in question.

Even worse is 5 year old Joseph Cardosa who dared to build (out of colorful bricks) a more "life-sized" Lego gun and bring it to school, earlier this year (also in a Massachusetts school):

IMO, the problem liberals have is that someone believes in active self defense (having a gun) instead of being a passive victim waiting for rescue from the state. The child wouldn’t have been punished if he’d had toys indicating that he was a helpless victim, instead of training to shoot bad guys.

I will never understand why these idiot parents don’t find a willing Lawyer and sue the school board, and sue personally every individual involved in these ridiculous incidents. Make it hurt and make them pay.

Even if it some dopy policy, the policy needs to be squashed and eventually there would be a legal precedent that others around the country could point to.

Children have the right to an education and to not have their record marred with dubious, communist inspired garbage.

Un efing believable. When are we going to start getting these nanny nitwits away from our children? These D.A’s are really damaging our children. If that was my child I would treat him like a hero and he would never step foot onto another goverment mental ward for the rest of his childhood.

The Springfield, MA rock station (WAQY) had a representative from Palmer on this morning and ripped the guy a new one. “Is there a law against common sense in Palmer?”

We get used to people talking about teachers as if they are saints.

Stuff like this happens almost every day. They are too stupid to be allowed near your kids, and they are carrying out a policy designed to shape these little minds for a political purpose.

Given a choice you wouldn’t hire these people to mentor your kids. And yet in effect we do, we hand our kids over to them for 12 to 16 years.

Get your kids out of public school. Maybe they can be reformed, and certainly we should try, but your kids only have now.

My 11 YO son tells me that things like this make kids think adults are "really, really stupid". They do not like adults who do these kinds of things and will carry this into their own adulthood.

I expect adults will be a lot saner when he reaches adulthood (I hope, anyway!).

This outrageous treatment of young children is the MA way to acclimate them to being frog-marched out of their homes by armed officers without warrants, as seen after the Muslim terrorist attack on the Boston Marathon.

Too bad the kids found out at an early age that many people in authority are fascists and love to harass and control.

I just want to let you know what my personal policy on this is, gunner.

I almost never click external links from this or any other site. I will occasionally click a youtube link if it’s something I really want to see, but in terms of articles, however much of an article is posted here is what I see of it, and then I read the FR comments, and that’s about it.

If it cuts off halfway through, then I saw half of it. If it cuts off after a one word tease, then I got one word of it.

I guess what I mean to say is just because someone be pimpin’ don’t necessarily mean people be buyin’!

What everyone is so puzzled about here is that liberals are “traumatized” without reason. It makes it a little bit more understandable, although it’s not acceptable.
