Then, we have an up and coming Rear Admiral being relieved of command of the Stennis carrier group. This is significant as it is not due to conduct unbecoming, personal conduct, or for incompetence, but for “inappropriate leadership judgment”. What?!
Admiral Charles M. Gaouette was relieved of command mid-deployment which is rare (understatement). From the AP:
WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. Navy said Saturday it is replacing the admiral in command of an aircraft carrier strike group in the Middle East, pending the outcome of an internal investigation into undisclosed allegations of inappropriate judgment...
Stennis was the group in support of Middle East - Where was it? (I had heard Med.)

This thread, and your post, reminded me of the fairly recent recipient of the MOH - Marine Dakota Meyer.
He was ordered to stay back with his Afghan driver while the rest of his squad into a village. His squad came under attack. He called in several times for support (none came) and then asked to go in himself. Several times he was told NOT to go in to help.
He finally said screw it and went in to help. Made numerous trips in and out of the village with his driver and got lots of his fellow Marines and Afghans out of the ambush.
The U.S.S. Stennis was in the Persian Gulf. The carrier that had been in the Med. was back in Norfolk or some east coast port.
There is a warrior. We have Pee Wee Herman as our President.
514mph, the longest time is to fuel, load, and take off and land
USS “John C. Stennis” from the Sixth Fleet probably had air power to reach Benghazi and preparing when it’s Commander, Admiral Gaoutte immediately was removed and sent in the “silent” corner!!!
Still nobody talks about Admiral James Lyon’s theory that makes most sense???
Only avowed enemies of the US could monitor the attack and DO NOTHING.
The Taliban is in the building.
Got chills reading that.
There were 29.
15 pilots, 15 crew. One got shot down but survived and was rescued.
