AND John Banner(sp?) who played “SGT Schultz” was in fact Jewish.
Victor Klemperer was born Jewish but converted to protestantism and was married to an “Aryan” woman. That helped him survive as a more or less free man in Germany till they fled in 1945.
As soon as she mentioned a tv show she used to watch with her parents i knew it was going to be Hogan’s Heroes... ha!

Werner Klemperer was the son of the famous German conductor, Otto Klemperer.
Very accomplished family.
