Actually, there’s a pretty good argument for real Anarchists (not the “black-bloc” nitwits) being the ultimate Libertarians. Extreme leftist politics generally takes the form of communism/socialism/fascism. The extreme of big-gov right is military dictatorship, and the extreme of small-gov conservatives tends to true anarchism.
You are correct...I was speaking in a focused sense of the mindset of leftists such as Noam Chomsky who want to tear down the government we have, but have no idea or suggestion about what should be installed to replace it.
It is a form of a political temper tantrum or political nihilism.
This mindset is far more common on the left, but you are 100% correct. At the left of the political spectrum is totalitarian governments, communists, fascists, etc. (total government) and at the right of that spectrum is no government, or anarchy.
