It was 8pm..I was being a doofus. I deal with that a bunch being me. :p
As I recall one of their first efforts was to try to procure heavier weapons from the host country.
Imad Mugniyeh also may have bought the farm much earlier had Clinton the courage to give the order.
Subsequent articles imply the meeting was face to face but usually don't actually say so.
Subsequent articles imply the meeting was face to face but usually don't actually say so. And from what I understand CBA orders to Defense Secs are supposed to be to be face to face.
Libya is six hours ahead. It was 8 PM in DC.
The CIA also sent a second six-member team from Tripoli on a chartered plane to help repel the attack," reported the Times. "This team included Glen Doherty, another former SEAL, who was later killed when attackers fired mortar rounds at the CIA Annex." Doherty was not disobeying any orders nor was Woods.
They were CIA contractors. The first thing that the Embassy did as well as the mission in Benghzi was to ask the host government for assistance. If the host government can’t protect you, you shouldn’t be there in the first place.
It was face to face in the Oval Office.
Yeah, I caught that after I posted, I looked at my post and saw my butt hangin’ in the wind. :p
I had to see it stare me in black and white before the brain engaged.
Oh the humanity!
Confused about Doherty, but it’s clear that early on someone on the ground in Benghazi was saying Woods did indeed disobey a stand down order from his CIA chain of command, when he was only about a mile away from the action:
This was published late October. So you are saying Griffin’s sources were wrong?
The CIA denied that was the case. And there were State security officers as part of the team. I don’t think anyone knows the truth since we can’t even interview the people who were on the ground in Benghazi. It is ridiculous.
Granted there is bound to be some uncertainty while the story sorts out, but the CIA denial would have to happen either way. If there really was no stand down from CIA command, then the on-the-ground sources that spoke with Griffin & Housley were either wrong or lying, and the present CIA denial is just a confirmation of that. If, OTOH, the CIA originated or channeled a refusal to authorize, and it resulted in the Benghazi debacle, there would be clear motivation to deny deny deny. So the presence of a denial proves almost nothing.
However, I noticed Housley is standing firmly with his source and his credibility, the same source who said that jet was commandeered, not chartered. You don’t have to commandeer your own jets if chain of command is operating smoothly. The Housley source, who was on the ground in Benghazi, credits “that decision” with the saving of many American lives. If that source is telling the truth, there had to be a corresponding CIA stand down order, which apparently multiple special ops personnel chose to disregard.
Then the five surviving members of this team need to come forward and spill their guts.
Imagine the light they can shine upon this mess, forcing the cockroaches in the White House to scatter for cover.
Thanks for the info.....it is strikingly different from what was reported last Sept.
