More seriously, what would the authorities have done if someone demanded a warrant before allowing entry to the house. I suspect they would have just used force against the citizen at that point.

The “caretaker role” of the Massachusetts Police trumps your 4th Amendment right. I know this from a situation I had at my home. I have it in writing from a judge....
