In a dark room somewhere, Hillary Clinton continues to self-medicate her depression with as much alcohol as she can afford. Martin OMalley is looking distressingly at his empty calendar trying to stay relevant. Andrew Cuomo scours the stores to claim as many bottles of slick hair gel he can. And Joe Biden, lol, poor Joe still thinks hes got a shot despite most of his party voting base not having a clue of who the hell he is other than the guy that came in with Obama.
Theyve all been usurped this week by the events that unfolded in Massachusetts this week.
Youve heard it here first folks. The new, undisputed frontrunner for the 2016 Democratic Presidential Nomination will be Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, who will be looked at as Obama II in the eyes of the Democratic Primary.
Consider this:
(1) He is a two-term, African American Governor of one of the most Liberal States in the Country.
(2) The bulk of his first term was spent implementing Romneycare, who else would be better in the eyes of liberals to oversee the implementation of Obamacare, which is essentially the same thing?
(3) Hes a radical leftist progressive, just like Obama, and like Obama, speaks well enough to hide it, college educated via Harvard with deep past involvement with the NAALCP.
(4) While Obama will take the current credit for apprehending the suspects in the Boston Bombings, Patrick will take the credit during the Primaries and the media will make him out to be another Rudy. Questions about what could have been done to prevent it in the first place will obviously be ignored by the media. Although Obama will try not to take sides, the media will get and create the impression that Patrick is the chosen successor, which like 2008, will offset whatever money advantage the Clintons may have.
(5) Patricks entry into the contest puts enormous pressure on other would-be Democratic Presidential Candidates in Iowa, as Patrick, like other Massachusetts politicians, would have a potential home-advantage in neighboring New Hampshire, as well as one in the African-American dominated South Carolina Democratic Primary. A Patrick victory in IA might bring about a quick end to the race for the Democratic Nomination. New England was one of the few places Hillary Clinton performed well as she could only win or be competitive in predominately non-Hispanic White Democratic-majority states. She would lose badly in just about every state Obama won to Patrick.
(6) Patricks entry into the race would most likely keep Hillary Clinton out of running again, as she would not want to be embarrassed again, and would be keeping in line with the New Democratic Party playbook.
With these in mind and others, the Tea Party should prepare for a potential 2016 contest against Patrick.
Not a good idea to count her out. She has many admirers. If she is their candidate it could be another 4 years of horror for us.
1 time you've learned. 2 times? We live in a country of at least 52% morons.
It doesn’t matter who the Democrats nominate - they will win.
The Republican Party continues to alienate their conservative base and move left in an attempt to look more moderate. In doing so they have split the party. Enough conservatives will abandon the Republican Party to deny them a presidential victory for quite a while. And why not - what have they given us in the past? Besides George Bush, how many conservative candidates have the National Committee backed in the past 20 years?
Conservatives will likely form a 3rd party in 2016, removing 1/3 or more votes from a Republican candidate and making it impossible to win. It will be a long haul to get it all sorted out.
I live in Mass. I was never a fan of Deval. He always wants to tax stuff.
But, he came out of this week appearing that he was confident and in control.
He is not the speaker that Obama is, but he can come across as competent and not so dogmatic.
If he got the least amount of traction...he could be a formidable candidate.
Doesn’t matter. America is doomed from an illiterate electorate.
He had to have a straw candidate to help him in his last election (Tim Cahill) to win. Cahill bled off just enough votes to carry Deval over the finish line. He won with 48% of votes cast. Not exactly a big win.
“I dont see Patrick as a Presidenial candidate. Hes older, short, and will not capture the youth in the same way. Hillary can coast in from her decades of good will with the left. “
The ideal ticket for the Dems is Hillary for President and Patrick for Veep. Another “historic” election where the nation gets its first female president and first black VP, plus the first ticket where neither candidate is a white male. The press will have a field day. Hillary will secure the female and the youth vote. Patrick will secure the minority vote.
Even if the Republicans countered with Rubio/West or Rubio/Carson, they would lose in a landslide.
By 2015 America will be done with Black Presidents and seek something conforting—an Old White Dude with white hair. Think Bill Clinton-like. Now, maybe for VP a black, yellow or brown would work—even a Red Indian. But, people will be going for comfort and stability—nothing odd—like a Mormon (book of Mormon Play killed any chance of that)or Catholic (Priests buggering boys finished that too). And no one with a name like “Bush”, or “Clinton”. They will want a fresh face and a fresh name. Maybe Rand Paul? Maybe a Governor worth his salt? maybe even Perry. BUT its really too early to think of such things. Lots going to happen in the next 10 months! Look what has happened since January? What else is coming? War? Natural disasters? Economic failures?
