ANY time the “collective” may used as the excuse for denying an individual’s rights, it places the rights of all individuals at risk. And if one, then why not small groups bound together by a common thread that stands in the way of the “common good” of the all important collective? And if smaller groups, why not larger groups that are small in comparison to the collective? Or groups like 6 million Jews, or Christians?
That leap of logic has been made several times before with unthinkable results. That political theory is utterly evil to the core and was repudiated by our Founding Fathers in the Constitution.

Does anyone find it ironic that the societal failures that she thinks need fixing are in part the result of the same grand and glorious plans started by her kind in the 60s.
We are all suffering from "the cure" and we don't even know it.
Who knows. Maybe it is part of a plan and they think that we are too stupid to figure it out or maybe they are too stupid to realize it themselves.

As if the notion of society and the common good is some kind of new discovery. The collective is old technology; it’s individual freedom that’s new, relatively speaking. The whole premise of American society is that honoring the individual promotes the general welfare. That’s the paradox and the genius of our founding. But the left is hellbent on screwing it up.

"This is about whether we as a society, expressing our collective will through our public institutions, including our government, have a right to impinge on individual freedoms in order to advance a common good"Answer: No. You dont have a right to do that. Clear?

Ma’am, I do not want your common good. I do not want any part of it.
Keep it. Keep your nose out of my life. Your opinion was never asked, you are not invited.

Meet the enemy. Notice that our Professor has neglected to mention which of
her rights are negotiable on behalf of the collective, only other people's.
This, then, is the basic political conflict of our time: whether the proper repository of political rights resides within the individual or the collective. I don't think it's a philosophical question anymore - this one will be settled in blood. I wish that it weren't here and now, but it is.

There is no collective will in American culture.
The individual has free will to excercise their perogatives and priorities, without interference from skanks like you.
