I was thinking the same thing.

BTW, I have a Sony Blu-Ray and it plays everything great, but I've heard the shelf-life for blu-ray's aren't much better than DVDs, so I've gone back to just buying DVDs. And I can't discern any better picture quality either.

Bluray discs are more scratch proof than DVDs, they have a coating, the Bluray disc can be played many many more times than the DVD. Its the actual advancement of the Bluray format occasionally that forces the consumer to constantly upgrade the player, a DVD player is fixed and cannot get any better, the Bluray can advance past what it is right now.

So occasionally a film will come out with new extras or sound codes that an older BD player cannot work with thus why so many people bitch about Bluray, best to have a BD player that can get an auto update or a PlayStation with broadband connection.
