This Protestant prefers the 1985 “New Jerusalem Bible” and the 1995 edition of Zonderman’s “NIV Study Bible.” But for reading as lectionary, I often preferthe King James version.

And an occassional dip into “The Message” new testament by Peterson

In my opinion the Jerusalem Bible is a much better, more accurate translation than the New Jerusalem Bible. As for NIV, some have heard me say that the letters stand for ‘Not Inspired Version’. And btw, I am a christian, and a catholic (small c), as the word pertains to the whole body of Christ.
