On Monday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) posted details of a no bid contract with weapons manufacturer Sig Sauer, worth $4.5 million over the next five years.

The contract is identical to the one DHS announced last week with Heckler & Koch. Both contracts are for $900,000 worth of "replacement parts" a year, for weapons used by DHS agents.

It doesn't matter how much they buy, or how much gear they waddle or drive around in.

If they start using all those toys en masse on innocent Americans, none of them will survive the backlash.

“Be interesting to know how many rounds of ammo are estimated to be in the hands of the general public.”

Americans have enough ammo to shoot every DHS employee 45,742 times. That doesn’t count the 2 billion rounds they have bought for us.

Where are they going to store them? Taxpayers paid for them taxpayers have a right to know how they are being cared for. FOIA!

“All these DHS purchases of guns and ammo could mean one of two things (probably both)
1. They are buying them up to keep them out of our hands
2. They are buying them up to use against us”

I just did some fast figuring. I’m assuming that most of the 2 billion rounds are mostly handgun ammo.
We used to qualify our 300 man department 4x a year and figured 150 rounds per training session and for replacement.

This worked out to 50 rounds (1 box) per month per officer.
Yearly this came out to about 180,000 rounds or 3600 boxes (of 50).
Costwise, we planned for $180-$240 per year per officer. Our budget for handgun ammo was about $54,000 - $60,000 per year.

2 billion rounds works out to 40 million boxes (of 50).

So if the government is on a training schedule similiar to ours (4x a year @ 150 rounds per session), that would mean that there could be over 3 million armed DHS personnel.

I don’t know how many that there are, maybe somebody knows this, but that’s got the makings of a pretty good sized standing army.

Remember the old slogan “Support your LOCAL police”?
What that slogan was warning us against is coming to pass.

Yeah but they only have the will to shoot each one 4,000 times each. Once it's a hamburger slurry it gets boring.

It’s probably safe to say that we wouldn’t have a 7.8% unemployment rate if DHS had 3 million people on its rolls.

1. They are buying them up to keep them out of our hands

2. They are buying them up to use against us

3. They are thoughtfully storing them until it’s time for us to relieve them of their responsibility.

It's right in front of our face, people. What the hell ELSE could these large procurements be other than for DOMESTIC USE.. 0bama's self-appointment for a third term in 2016??

And the US military will go along with this? What is his approval rating among soldiers/sailors/airmen?

Not enough money for vaccinating children, but enough money to arm up against the citizens.

You’re probably right. I have no idea how many there are. I was just trying to illustrate that they could accommodate a pretty good training regimen for over 3 million agents.

The “National Civilian Defense Force” is fast becoming a reality. The regular military may not be politically reliable, but elements of the BATFE and some elements of the Border Patrol, plus the newly uniformed TSA, could come under the Department of Homeland Security, and become the cadre of the new “internal army”, which would be as well funded as the formal military branches.

This also gets around the bothersome “Posse Comitatus” law which prevents the deployment of regular military as a law enforcement agency, and bypasses the sheriffs of the nation.

You think for a minute, that if they are coming in, they are going to ask permission?

Papa Doc Duvalier had his “Tonton Macoutes”, who did a superb job of keeping down the counterrevolutionary elements in Haiti.

They are only spending $4.5 million this time because of the Sequestration cuts.

See?

Sequestration is causing cutbacks everywhere.

A certain local LE Agency has a semi-armored vehicle. Back when I worked for our local OEM I got to take a nice, long, close look at it. The deputy thoughtfully gave me a nice run down on its capabilities.

Did you know those things don’t have door locks like a car?

They keep the keys for it right inside their little shed, hanging on a ring. How very thoughtful.

No they aren't. The Marine Corps is. A simple flat-out lie.

When he starts sending large numbers of our troops overseas to the Persian Gulf for an Iran event of epic proportions, then it’s time to worry about what the DHS has planned for here.
